4 small/medium chicken breasts, skin removed (I leave the bone in for more flavor)
3 cubes of chicken boullion
1 bag of baby carrots
1 large onion, chopped
8 cups of water (or enough to cover chicken)
1/2 bag of frozen peas
2 packets chicken gravy mix (such as McCormick or Great Value)
salt and pepper to taste

Dumplings:
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
2 Tbs. vegetable oil


How Do I Make Holly's Chicken and Dumplings?

Here is how you make Holly's Chicken and Dumplings:

Add first five ingredients for the soup to a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 1 1/2 hours until chicken is very tender and falls off the bone. Remove chicken from pot and remove bones from chicken. Break chicken apart into bite size pieces and return to the pot. Add the peas and gravy mix. Continue simmering soup while you prepare dumplings.In another large pot, bring 2 quarst of water to a boil. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt, Make a well in the middle of flour mixture and add all of the wet ingredients. Stir until just mixed. Drop batter by teaspoons into boiling water (a pastry bag also works well to squeeze dumplings into the water). The mixture will be thick. Stir dumplings as they rise to the surface. Cook two more minutes after all the dumplings are floating. Drain dumplings in a colander. Add them to the soup.
