What Are The Ingredients For Gorgonzola Spinach Salad Recipe?

The ingredients for Gorgonzola Spinach Salad are:

-Approximately half a bunch of fresh spinach (enough for two ample salads)
-1 oz walnuts (about 14 halves)
-Half of a medium or large Granny Smith apple
-About 20 raisins (black or golden work well)
-About 3 tbsp of balsamic vinegar (to taste)
-About 6 tbsp of gorgonzola cheese crumbles

Salt and pepper if you desire. :)

How Do I Make Gorgonzola Spinach Salad?

Here is how you make Gorgonzola Spinach Salad:

Wash the spinach and remove the stems. Spin or pat dry. Cut or tear up the leaves to whatever size pleases you, and place in a big bowl.Over the top of the salad, crumble the walnuts. You can either crumble them by hand or chop them with a knife, but they will stretch much farther if you don't just throw in big chunks. :)Cut up the Granny Smith apple half into small chunks. I personally cut them into little wedges that are about an inch long and 1/4 inch thick, but you can really do them however you want. Sprinkle the apple pieces on top of the salad.Sprinkle the raisins on top of the salad.Crumble the gorgonzola cheese on top of the salad. If you don't have gorgonzola then Maytag Blue is a good substitute, although I would NOT recommend using the ultra-common Danish Blue, as it is not nearly as creamy.Using tongs, toss the spinach with the various ingredients until they are evenly distributed. Add balsamic vinegar and salt/pepper to your taste. Toss again until that is evenly distributed.Voila, you're done! Serves two. If you're looking to eat extra calories adding a tbsp of olive oil to this recipe improves it, although it does raise the calorie and fat content quite a bit. Be advised though that the gorgonzola cheese, if spread around enough, makes the spinach flavorful enough to not need salad dressing. :)Number of Servings: 2Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user WILDDADADUCK.
