In a large heavy soup pot, heat olive oil over medium high heat. Stir in onion and cook for about 7 minutes, or until translucent. Stir in garlic, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant. Stir in celery and carrots and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. If necessary, add additional broth or water and stir in beans and pasta. Cook 10-15 minutes, until pasta is cooked and everything is hot.
