5 cups whole wheat pastry flour
3/4 cup becel
1/2 cup crisco
1 tsp salt
1 TBS curry powder

600 gr extra lean ground beef
2/3 cup dry bread crumbs
1 cup diced onion
1/2 tsp allspice
1 TBS curry powder
1/2 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp thyme
1 cup water


How Do I Make Jamaican Patty?

Here is how you make Jamaican Patty:

Put flour, becel crisco, salt and curry powder in food processor. Process until fats are well incorporated. Add 1/2 cup of cold water, and process until it forms a ball. Add a bit more water if needed. Let dough rest an hour before using.Saute onions and finely broken up ground beef. When browned add bread crumbs, seansonings and water. Cook until it resembles a paste mixture. Let cool.Roll out small pieces of dough very thin, Cut out out circle (using a saucer). Put a couple of tablespoons of the meat mixture on one side of the dough. Fold it over, and fold and pinch the edges. Continue one at a time. I get 26 patties out of this mixture and dough. Brush with egg wash if desired. Either freeze and bake as needed, or bake now and freeze leftovers. Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes, until golden.
