1- tbsp salt (optional)
1- lb ground turkey, 93% lean
1- tbsp olive oil
1- whole tomato, diced
1- whole medium onion, diced
5- garlic cloves
3- basil leaves
1- stem fresh oregano
1- 28 oz can petite diced tomatoes
1- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1- 6 oz can Hunt's tomato paste
1- 8 oz reduced fat mozzarella cheese, shredded


How Do I Make Heart Healthy Lasagna?

Here is how you make Heart Healthy Lasagna:

1. In a large pot, boil 6 cups of water and 1 tbsp salt, drop noodles into boiling water and boil for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside, lay out flat so noodles do not stick together while waiting for sauce to cook. 2. In a skillet, cooked ground turkey until done, set aside.3. In a large pot, saute onion, garlic and fresh tomatoes with 1 tbsp olive oil until tender.4. Add diced and crushed tomatoes, basil and oregano to onion garlic mixture, simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring regularly.5. Add tomato paste and cooked ground turkey, stir and let simmer on low for another 20 minutes.5. In a 9 X 13 pan, begin with sauce mixture on the bottom, layer with three whole wheat noodles, cover with sauce, then cheese, then continue with three more noodles, sauce, cheese and repeat for a third layer of three noodles, sauce and end with cheese.6. Cover with foil.7. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, remove foil and bake another 15 minutes.
