2 large carrots, peeled and grated
1 small onion, peeled and chopped
2 cups diced ham
1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup skim milk
1 cup shredded American cheese, divided
2 slices wheat bread, grated to make crumbs

Here is how you make Ham and Potato Hot Dish:

Cook potatoes in water to cover until almost soft. Drain and set aside. Combine ham, cream of mushroom soup, milk, onion, and half of the cheese (1/2 cup). Stir to combine. Spray 2 quart casserole with cooking spray. Layer half of the potatoes in the prepared casserole, then half of the grated carrots and half of the ham mixture. Repeat layers. Mix bread crumbs and remaining half cup of American cheese and spread over top of casserole.
