Peel and finely slice potatoes. I use a food processor for this task to get very thin potato slices. A mandolin works well, too. Place potatoes in a 9x13 glass dish. Add ham, cheese, soup, and milk. Combine thoroughly. Bake at 375 degrees for at least one hour - sometimes takes up to 1 1/2 hours for potatoes to cook completely. About 15 min. before its done, top with French's fried onions.
