1 pound of extra lean ground beef
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes, or tomato puree
1 large onion, chopped
4 green onions, chopped
1 half green bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped fine
1 tbsp olive oil
1.5 tsp sea salt
.5 tsp black pepper
1 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. ground cloves


How Do I Make Zesty Meat Sauce?

Here is how you make Zesty Meat Sauce:

In a medium saucepan, add olive oil over medium heat and saut? chopped onion, green onions, bell pepper & garlic until wilted and onions begin to turn transparent. Move the vegetable mixture to the edges of the pan and add ground beef to saucepan. Saute meat until browned, gradually mixing the cooked meat with the vegetables. Add salt, pepper, hot sauce, oregano, thyme and cloves and stir to combine. Add canned tomatoes and fold into meat and vegetable mixture. When mixture begins to bubble, turn heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Adjust salt and pepper to taste. Serve over hot pasta or cooked spaghetti squash. Makes four 1 1/4 cup servings.
