On Medium heat, in large pot/skillet, cook sauerkraut, sugar, oil and onion- cover. (Need large enough pot/skillet to hold all of sauerkraut and sausage in the end).Stir and cook the sauerkraut until the onion is transparent. On Medium/High heat, in separate large pot, place sausage, add enough water to cover and add the pepper flakes. Cook until done.Cut sausage links into serving pieces, about 4" long.
