1/2 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
6 T chilled stick butter
1/3 C chopped dried apricots
1/3 C sweetened dried cranberries
3/4 C low fat buttermilk
2 t orange rind
1 large egg
1 large egg white
1T sugar



How Do I Make Triple Fruit Scones?

Here is how you make Triple Fruit Scones:

Preheat oven to 400.Lightly spoon flours into dry measuring cups; level with knife. Combine flours, 1/3 C sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in apricots and cranberries. Combine buttermilk, orange rind, egg and egg white; add to flour mixture and stir just until moist. Mixture will be sticky. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 4 times with floured hands. Pat dough into a 12 x 6 inch rectangle. Cut dough into 8 (3-inch) squares using a dulll knife or a dough scraper. Cut each square into 2 triangles; palce on a non stick baking sheet or baking stone. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.
