Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 cup flax meal
1 1/2 cup stone ground cornmeal (May substitute 1 cup oats and 1/4 cup whole wheat flour - add 1/4 tsp ea. nutmeg and cinnamon with this substitution)
2-3 Tblsp Earth Balance Natural Buttery Spread

Here is how you make Modified Apple Crisp:

Combine 4 apples, spices, 1/2 cup maple syrup, 1/4 cup agave nectar and lemon juice in a sauce pan. Cook until apples begin to soften. Let cool slightly.Cut butter spread into flax and cornmeal (may substitute 1 cup oats and 1/4 whole wheat flour for cornmeal - recommend adding additional cinnamon and nutmeg with this substitution). Add remaining maple and agave and a pinch of salt and mix thoroughly to make a rustic "pie crust" dough.In a baking dish (or casserole) combine the cooked apples and remaining raw apples. Cover with crust dough. Bake uncovered at 350F for approximately 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown and crispy. Let cool slightly before serving.
