In a med. bowl combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt; set aside.In med. saucepan, combine butter, cocoa powder, and 1 cup of WATER. Bring mixture just to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add the cocoa mixture to the flour mixture- beat with mixer on med-hi until thoroughly combined. Add eggs, butterilk, and vanilla. Beat 1 minute. (batter will be thin) Pour into prepared pan.Bake @ 350 for 35 minutes in cake pan or 25 minutes in cookie sheet, or till lightly springs back in center when touched.Pour warm Chocolate-buttermilk frosting over WARM cake, spreading evenly. Cool thoroughly.Frosting:In med saucepan, combine butter, cocoa, and buttermilk. Bring to boiling. remove from heat. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
