-Pour boiling water over dates, butter and sugar. Mix well. Set aside to cool. Add eggs when cool. Mix well.-Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar together. Add to wet mixture above. Mix well.-Add walnuts and vanilla extract.
