.85 cup pumpkin puree
.85 cup water
3/4 cup chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)
1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice (optional)

Here is how you make Milk Chocolate-Chip Pumpkin Spice Cake or Cupcakes:

Preheat oven according to the cooking instructions provided on the cake box. Spray a 13x9 pan with cooking spray and then lightly cover the spray with flour to keep the cake from sticking. Set pan aside. Empty the spice cake mix into a mixing bowl. Add just less than 1 cup of pureed pumpkin (estimated at .85 cup for recipe) and just under 1 cup of water. For each of these, I just use a cup measuring cup and fill it most of the way full. You could also do 3/4 + 1/8 (that would be close as well). Add spices. Mix until smooth. Fold in 3/4 cup chocolate chips (can be semi-sweet or milk chocolate, but this recipe was calculated with milk chocolate chips since that's what I had on hand.)Spread batter into prepared 13x9 pan and bake according to the box instructions.
