Here is how you make Breakfast Cookies-Cherry and Cocanut:

Cream shortening, butter, applesauce and sugars mix until fluffy. Add egg, mix until incorporated. Add water, vanilla, salt and baking soda and mix again. Add flour and oats, mixing after each cup. A half cup each of cherries and cocanut is enough to make good cookies, but I prefer generous amounts in each cookie and add 1 cup of each.Drop by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in 350 degree oven 13 - 15 minutes or until golden brown around the outside. Leave in pan to finish cooking if the middle looks wet.
