2 pkgs of dry yeast with .25 C warm water
1/4 C shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
1/2 C sugar
1 C hot scalded milk
5-5.5 C flour

1 #2 can crushed pineapple well drained
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/3 C brown sugar
3/4 C sugar
1/2 C raisins
2 tsp cinnamon


How Do I Make Pineapple-Raisin Tea Ring?

Here is how you make Pineapple-Raisin Tea Ring:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Combine sugar, shortening, salt and milk. Stir in eggs and yeast. Add gradually flour to form stiff dough. Knead on lightly floured board until smooth and satiny(5-8 min). Place in greased bowl and cover with damp towel. Let rise in warm place until light and double in size(1-1.5 hours). Prepare pineapple-raisin filling in saucepan, except raisins. Cook over med heat until thick. Add raisins. CoolDivide dough in half after rises. Roll out one portion on floured board to a 20 x 12" rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Spread with 1/2 filling to within 1" of 1 long side and to edge of other 3 sides. Comine brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle half over filling on dough. Roll as for jelly roll, starting with covered 20" edge. Shape into a ring on greased baking sheet. With scissors cut 1" apart through top. Cover remaining dough with pineapple and brown sugar mixture. Cover with damp towel and let rise in warm place until light and double size(45-60 min). Bake 20-25 min., Remove from pans and cool on racks. Frost while warm and sprinkle with 2 tbsp chopped nuts and garnish with maraschino cherry halves if desired.
