Here is how you make rice pudding - nondairy:

Rinse rice to get off some of the starchiness. Pour 1 1/2 C milk, rice and raisins in a pot and bring to a boil just above medium high. Turn the heat down to just below medium high and keep stirring so you don't scorch the sweetened milk. Add a little bit of the reserved milk if needed. After 10 minutes, check the rice for done-ness.
