In large pot bbrown beef well until the entire bottom of pan is browned. Add wine, salt and pepper and thyme. Simmer just until the brown bottom of the pan is incorporated into the wine. Add half of water and cook until meat is tender (add more water as needed). Add the additional ingredients, including remaining water water and cook for approimately 1/2 hour until indredients are done.
