1/4 c. flour
celery salt to taste
paprika to taste
cooking spray
large onion, chopped
4-6 c. warm water
16 oz. can tomato sauce
3 bay leaves
parsley to taste
6-8 carrots, chopped (about 2 cups)
2 lbs. roughly of potatoes-- diced
16 oz. bag frozen peas

Here is how you make Mel's Beef Stew:

Cut beef cubes into the size you like. Toss the meat w/ the flour, celery salt and paprika. Brown meat in a heavy pot w/ cooking oil spray. After meat is brown, add diced onion and saute.Add the warm water and tomato sauce, parsley, bay leaves... simmer (the longer the better) about 3-4 hours before adding veggies.Add carrots and simmer until no longer crunch.Add potatoes next and simmer until they soften.Last, add the peas and cook until no longer crunchy.Serve w/ salad and bread.Number of Servings: 9Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user MYSHELLE10.
