1 cup chopped onion
2 lbs. ground beef
2/3 cup quick or old fashioned oats (uncooked)
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 egg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large clove of garlic (finely chopped)
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste


How Do I Make Mom's Scandinavian Stuffed Cabbage?

Here is how you make Mom's Scandinavian Stuffed Cabbage:

Wash, turn and core a head of cabbage. Place core end down in saucepan containing about 3 inches of boiling, salted water. Cover and simmer about 3 minutes. Drain and cool. Separate leaves from cabbage head. Return any leaves that are too stiff to roll tback to the water for a few more minutes. Drain leaves and dry well.Combine onion, beaf, oats, tomato sauce, egg, cinnamon, garlic, and salt. Mix well. Divide meat mixture into 24 equal parts. Roll a lightly salted cabbage leaf around each portion of meat. Secure with a toothpick if desired. Place cabbage rolls, seam side down in a large shallow baking pan. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for an hour or until tender. Move cabbage rolls to a serving platter with a slotted spoon and remove toothpicks if used.
