1/4 c. brown rice flakes (20 gr)
few grains of salt (half a dash)
12 dried unsweetened cranberries (10 gr)
10 frozen blueberries or dried
2 tsp toasted unsalted sunflower seeds (I toast my own)
2/3 c. water (probably less water if making more than one serving)

optional - add 1 1/2 tsp ground flax seed when serving the cooked cereal (not included in nutrition calculator)

substitutions - raisins for cranberies or other combinations of dried fruit

Here is how you make Brown Rice Flakes Hot Cereal:

put dried fruits and sunflower seeds in small pot;add water and bring to boilturn down heat to very low or low add brown rice flakesput lid on pot slightly ajar to let steam to escape. cereal should cook at a simmer, not a real boil. when most of the liquid is absorbed, add frozen blueberries to top (to defrost and warm up). when all liquid is absorbed or steamed off, turn off heat or removet, put lid on tight and let sit for a few min. This will loosen any cereal sticking to the bottom and cereal can easily be removed into a bowl using a spatula . I like this with 1/2 c. plain natural yogurt flavoured with a tsp of homemade jam. note - brown rice flakes will quickly boil over the top if added at the beginning. that is why I add them when I turn down the heat after the water has come to a boil.
