How Do I Make Danielle's Tomato Sauce?

Here is how you make Danielle's Tomato Sauce:

Wash and core tomatoes. Place in deep stock pot, cover with lid and place over low heat. Allow tomatoes to steam/simmer for about 2.5 to 3 hours (until soft enough to fall apart when pushed with spoon). While tomatoes stew, place large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and onions. Sweat onions for about 3-5 minutes until clear. Add garlic and cook additional minute. Add ground beef and ground sausage, breaking apart into crumbly texture with wooden spoon. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned through. Set aside.When tomatoes are ready, add thyme, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper and balsamic vinegar. Using an immersion blender, emulsify the ingredients until well blended and smooth. Add cooked beef/sausage mixture and mix into sauce using wooden spoon.Continue to let sauce simmer over low heat for about 60 minutes. Texture should approximate soup bordering on stew.
