12 ounces extra lean ground beef- 4 % fat
1 c. sweet onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 T. all purpose flour
1 1/3 c. tomato sauce
2 4 ounce cans chopped green chiles, medium heat
1 T. chili powder
4 c. torn lettuce- a mix of red and iceberg works great
1 c. grape tomatoes, or cherry tomatoes that are quartered
1/2 c. colby jack cheese, shredded (2 ounces)
4 Tablespoons lite sourcream
1/2 haas avocado ,peeled and diced
salsa-optional

Here is how you make Taco Salad in Individual Tortilla Bowls:

Lightly brush tortillas with water to make them more pliable. Press each tortilla into a small ramekin, casserole or oven safe bowl sprayed with cooking spray. Bake at 350 for 15-29 minutes or until crisped and lightly browned.While tortillas are in oven place ground beef, onions and garlic in a skillet sprayed with canola cooking spray and cook until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain off any liquid.Mix flour into meat and onion, then add tomato sauce, diced green chiles and chili powder. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly, continue cooking 1 minute longer.Remove the tortillas from the oven and from the dish they were cooked in. Place one tortilla bowl in the center of each plate. arrange 1/2 c. of shredded lettuce in the bottom of each bowl. Top lettuce with 1/4 grape tomatoes.Divide meat evenly between bowls. Top meat with 1/8 c. shredded cheese (1/2 oz), 1/4 of the diced avocado and 1 T. lite sour cream. Top with salsa if desired. Ground turkey can be used in place of the beef for an even lower fat and calorie count.
