Set top oven rack to about 6 inches under broiler & pre-heat oven to 425 degrees while doing next step. peel and quarter onions, cut jalapeno in half lengthwise and seed it, peel husk from tomatillos and rinse in hot water to remove residue. peel garlic cloves. place onions onto a baking sheet sideways, place jalapeno halves loves on baking sheet on sheet with skin side up, place garlic cloves on sheet. Place tomatillos on sheet top side down and place all in oven. Turn oven to broil and broil everything for 5 min or so, check tomatillos to see if they start to brown on top the tomatillos flip them 180 degrees and put back in oven for another few minutes then remove. skins on jalapenos should be somewhat blackened. allow to cool. While these are cooling. Half avocados and pit. Remove the pulp and put into a food processor. Next coarsely chop the amount of cilantro you desire and put it into food processor with the avocado, then add tomatillos and garlic. Peel the Jalapeno pepper halves and add them to the food processor along with 1 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp cumin , salt, pepper, cayenne (if desired) 2-3 TB key-lime juice. Turn on processor and process until desired texture. Taste and adjust seasonings then chill until serving in a tightly covered container. Best served cold. This is a great dip, a good add into tacos and good as a topping to steamed chicken.
