Here is how you make Mom's Rice:

-Heat Olive oil in a medium sauce pan on med/high heat.-Add sliced onions. Heat until tender. About 3 min.-Add rice to oil. Let the rice cook for 5 min. -Add 3 cups of water.-Break the cube up in the water and stir.-Let the water come to a boil.-Cover the rice with pot cover and lower heat to low. -Let cook for 25 min.
