I also added diced green pepper. So, brown meat(except shrimp) in a pot that will hold 6 oz of liquid and about 3.5lbs of meat. Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. In a separate container whisk the remaining 2 cups of water and the roux mix until mix is dissolved. Add the roux to the boiling pot, stir well and return to a boil. set heat to low and simmer to desired consistency. Now I cheated, after I got the roux and the meat mixed and returned to boiling I put it in my rice maker/crock pot, set it to SOUP and when I returned to a boil I took the crock pot temperature down to keep warm and went on with my house work.
