Allow mixture to soak for 3-5 minutes, then add other ingredients and pour water over the top of the pot until everything is covered. Lentils soak up liquid like crazy! They are best eaten when slow cooked or allowed to soak for a couple hours before cooking. When using a pot, I put this stuff together, then go to work, and heat it when I come home.
