I love refried beans, but nothing tastes better than home cooked. Even when done the easy way! My recipe writing isn't too great since I mostly wing it in the kitchen, but I'm giving it a go! This is pretty much the way my mexican/chilean friends mother makes them.

How Do I Make Quick and Easy Refried Beans?

Here is how you make Quick and Easy Refried Beans:

Makes approximately 5 half cup servings. It may work out to more/less depending on the amount of liquid. I split it in to servings right in the pan. I said 20 minutes for cooking time, but you can speed this up, or take longer depending on how you like them. Heat up your pan and oil. Add the 3 cups of pinto beans with a little bit of the liquid. Reserve the leftover liquid, because if at any point your beans become dry you will want to add more liquid. Allow the beans to heat up, especially if they are cool. Now here's where the quick part comes in. Instead of waiting for the beans to break down, use a potato masher and lightly mash the beans. You don't have to break it all the way down, the cooking will do it some, and also you can do more later. It all depends on how much of the whole bean you still like, as well. Allow this to simmer on the stove over a relatively low heat. for a few minutes. Again, it all depends on how quickly you want these done. You can let them simmer for a long time and break down (tastes better) or you can speed it up yourself with more mashing (quicker). You don't want to let it dry out so make sure to add liquid if needed. Add the taco sauce, and stir in. At this time check the consistency of your beans. Do they need another mash? Need more liquid? Let them cook a few more minutes. At this point they are usually still quite moist. If you like your refried beans more liquidy, go ahead and serve, if you like them more paste-like, continue to simmer until they reach the consistency you enjoy.
