Here is how you make Mom's Lasagna:

Heat olive oil, then add onions and garlic. Saute until onions are translucent. Add tomato sauce. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 1-1/2 hours.Lightly coat a 9x12 baking dish with cooking spray. Place two noodles on the pan bottom then cover with 1/3 of the tomato sauce. Sprinkle with 1/3 of mozzarella and ricotta. Top with 1/3 of parmesan.
