I got this recipe from my friend Nancy. She swears they are magic because when ever she eats them, she has a weight loss the next day.She cooks them in the crock pot all day, I cook mine in a pot on the stove. What ever works for you. This is a very basic recipe that yields a lot of lentils. I like to add a dab of curry paste or other flavorings to create different tastes so I never get tired of the same old thing.

Heat olive oil in large pot. When hot, add vegetables and saute for 5-10 minutes. Add lentils, water and vegetable base. Bring to a simmer, lower heat and let cook until water is mostly absorbed and lentils are tender, about 35-45 minutes. If water cooks off before the lentils are done, add a little more water.
