3 bay leaves
4-6 cups of hot water

How Do I Make No-Ham Split Pea Soup?

Here is how you make No-Ham Split Pea Soup:

Dissolve bouillon into 4 cups of hot water and set aside.Heat olive oil on medium high heat in a large pot. Add carrots, onion and celery, salt and pepper. Sauté until onions are soft (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and cook for about another minute. Add split peas and lower heat to medium.Add the bouillon and water mixture and bay leaves. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Cover pot, but leave a small opening on the side. Turn heat to medium-low and cook for about 45 minutes – 1 hour, stirring occasionally and adding a little water (1/2 cup at time) as needed if it gets too thick.When peas are cooked and the soup is smooth, it’s done. Add more salt pepper as needed. This makes six medium sized bowls.
