Here is how you make Asparagus Gruyere Toast:

Spray an 8 inch square baking pan with non-stick spray. Cut crusts off bread slices. Line pan with bread (may cut now or after baking). Bake bread until golden on the bottom - about 2-3 minutes at 500 degrees. Remove from oven and flip over in the pan so the golden side is up. Clean and cut asparagus into one-inch pieces. Coat with half a teaspoon of olive oil and sprinkle liberally with kosher salt. Spread out in foil-lined baking dish; broil for 4 minutes. Mix shredded Gruyere cheese with dijon mustard and mayonnaise. Spread a small amount of cheese mixture on warm toasts. Stick asparagus pieces to the toasts. Cover each toast thickly with remaining cheese mixture. Broil 4-5 minutes until bubbly. Cool and serve warm or room temperature.
