6 cup water (divided: 4 cups/2 cups)

1. Place the beans, 4 cups of water and 2 cups of low sodium fat free chicken broth into a large slow cooker (crock pot), cover, and turn to high. Cook until the beans begin to become tender (about 3 hours). 2. After beans have begun to become tender, add 2 more cups of water and all of the other ingredients, EXCEPT THE SPAM, and cook on high for another 2 and 1/2 hours. Add the SPAM and lower temperature to medium and cook for another 1/2 hour. 3. Makes 7-2 cup servings.
