How Do I Make Mixed Bean Soup with Ham?

Here is how you make Mixed Bean Soup with Ham:

Place ham bone, chicken stock and water into a large stock pot. Cook on medium high heat for about 20 minutes. While the ham bone is cooking chop the carrots, celery, potatoes and cabbage (set the cabbage aside). Remove the ham bone from the stock pot. Add the chopped vegetables. Pull the ham from the ham bone and add back into the stock pot. Simmer on low to medium heat for about 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add the beans and the chopped cabbage. Cook until the cabbage is tender, about 20 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste. I typically add the pepper when I put the vegetables in the stock pot and am very generous with it....about 1 Tbsp.
