Here is how you make soup navy bean pressure cooker:

Soak beans 24 hours then drain and rinse till water runs clear.Cut ham steak in 1/2 squaresshread 2 cups of carrots dice 2 cups celerydice 2 cup yellow onionI like to cut every thing up before I even turn on the stove.I use a 8qt SS pressure cooker(PC) to make this soup.put 2 tsp of bacon grease in PC with heat on med high and brown the ham steak.just before ham steak is browned add the chopped garlic and fry for 1-2 minutes.next put in 6 cups of chicken broth then add rest of the ingredients. stir till the ham base and veg. base have dissolved ( you might need to put in the rest of the chicken broth)make sure you only fill the pressure cooker 3/4 full including at least 1 1/2 inches of liquid above the top of beans. I use water as needed to make sure the beans are covered as above. thats why I use a 8qt PC. The bacon grease reduces the foam from the cooking beans. Any fat will do the trick.lock the lid put on the weight 15 lb setting. and turn the burner to high once the weight starts to jiggel turn down the heat so the weight jiggles at least 1-2 times a minute. Cook for 14 minutes and then remove from the burner and let the PC cool down naturaly. when cooled enough the safty vavle will be down and the lid lock will also be down allowing you to open the PC. It takes about 45 min to put this dish toghter and cook then about 1 hour or longer for it to cool but it is well worth it. I make such big batches so I can bring this to work for lunch for at least a week.Serving Size:?makes 20 1 cup servings
