1/2 c. diced onion
1 T. sesame oil
2T.corn starch
2T. water
1 c. pea pods, cut in half
6 oz. Canadian bacon, juliened

Here is how you make Longevity Soup:

Makes about 12 cups. Info is for each 1 c. serving.Start carrots boiling in a large pot with 10 c. water. Add soy sauce, bullion. Start Onions sauteing in a non-stick skillet.In a small bowl, mix 2T water with the sesame oil and corn starch until smooth. Then mix into the broth in the pot. Also throw in the onions when they are translucent, and the garlic.When the broth hits a rolling boil, add the uncooked spaghetti. (Chinese tradition favors keeping them long to symbolize a long life. Me? I like to break them up;)Roughly 4 minutes later, add in the pea pods. Finally the Canadian Bacon.Keep it at a gentle boil. When the carrots and spaghetti are tender, soup's on! (approx. 10-12 minutes once it starts to boil)Studies suggest starting your meal with a serving of healthy soup can help you control portions AND feel more satisfied.
