My favorite fall/winter soup! I couldn't find exact calorie count of the smoked ham shank. I add my ham shank in while cooking, remove at the end, and chop it up, discarding any fat and bone. You could leave it out and instead opt for chicken broth instead of the water.

Here is how you make Crock Pea Soup:

Put all ingredients except the salt and pepper into a crock-pot. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours, or until peas are very soft. Before serving, remove bay leaf and discard. Remove ham shank, meat should fall off the bone, and chop into bite size pieces. Add meat back into the pot.
