In a large sauce pan, saute the mirepoix blend and crushed garlic cloves in the 2 TBLS of olive oil. Stir in the drained chick pea. Add the vegetable broth and lentils, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and then gently simmer on the stovetop for 30 minutes, or until lentils are tender, with the lid tilted. Add seasonings, as desired. Serve hot.
