Here is how you make Cabbage and Rice Soup:

Add bacon to soup pot. Fry until crisp, drain most of the fat off.Add the cabbage, onions, salt and butter, cook on medium heat for about 30 to 45 minutes until caramelized and soft. You'll have to stir every 3 to 5 minutes to aid even cooking and prevent burning. Allow it to brown a bit when cabbage is soft and translucent, but not mushy.Add water sherry and bouillon and bring to a boil. Add rice. Partially cover and allow to simmer for about 40 to 45 minutes or until rice is tender.
