Now I live with my boyfriend and make the same soup with equally excited reviews. It takes a while but once you get it down you can throw it together a little faster.

Chopped onion
Diced garlic
olive oil
2 cans stewed tomatos
1 can diced tomatos
1 jar spaghetti/tomato sauce
1 can garbanzo beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can green beans
2 cups chopped carrots
A couple cups cooked shell pasta
water
bay leaves
basil
thyme
oregano
anise seed
salt
sugar
Parmesan cheese


All canned ingredients include the water they are stored in. It gives good taste to the soup, but obviously fresh ingredients or rinsed canned goods would improve the health factor a bit.

Adding cooked chicken into the last step is also a nice treat

Here is how you make Lauren's famous tomato soup:

Cut and saute the onion and garlic in olive oil in a big pot.In a separate pan boil water and cook the pasta. Cooking it individually will cut down on it sucking all the water out of your soup. Add it in the final step. Add the spices to the garlic and onions. Keep adding oil so the pan doesn't burn (I use about 2 teaspoons of each spice and then a whole bunch of basil)After stirring the spices in add the diced tomatoes and bring to a near boil.The stewed tomatoes come in big pieces so cut them up and add them to the brew.Then just throw all the other ingredients in and let it cook for at least 45 min. Play with the salt, spice and water ratio until you've found a good balance.Save the Parmesan and sprinkle it onto individual bowls of soup.
