4 C. chopped swiss chard, stalk and greens separated
1 qt. vegetable broth
1 qt. beef broth
1 qt. tomatoes with liquid
1 cup lentils
1 cup water
ground pepper
1 can white beans
1 can butter beans
1/2 cup whole wheat macaroni--cooked
parmesan cheese--optional

Here is how you make Vegetable Soup with Chard:

Saute all vegetables in olive oil (except chard greens) for 5 min. Add broth, tomatoes, lentils, some ground pepper and 1 cup water. Bring to boil, simmer partially covered till vegetables are tender. Add beans--with or without liquid--you choose, and bring back to boil. Add chopped chard greens and cook just till done, stir in cooked pasta and serve.
