1 lb Ground Beef (I used 85% lean)
1 onion, chopped fine (see instructions)
2 cups of whole milk
1/2 cup white flour (I prefer cake flour as it is finer)
4 TBSP salted butter
salt and pepper to taste


How Do I Make Lighter Creamed Beef?

Here is how you make Lighter Creamed Beef:

1. Chop onion into small pieces. You can substitute freeze dried onion pieces if you don't have a fresh onion.2. Over medium heat saute the ground beef and onion together until the beef is browned through and the onions soft. Set aside.3. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat melt the butter4. Remove melted butter from the heat and add flour to the butter a few tablespoons at a time. Whisk thoroughly to ensure there are no clumps before you add more flour.5. Once the flour is fully incorporated return the butter/flour mixture to the heat at a medium-low setting.6. Slowly at the milk while whisking continuously to ensure the flour and butter and fully dissolved into the milk before adding more. 7. Continue to whisk the milk in and until all 2 cups have been used.8. Bring the heat up to a medium to medium-high and continue to whisk the mixture. Do not let it sit or the sauce will burn.9. The sauce should begin to thicken after a minute or two. At this point continue to stir with the whisk. Taste the sauce and add salt and pepper as needed. 10. The sauce is done when there is no longer any floury taste. This may take 5-7 minutes. 11. Remove from heat and stir ground beef mixture into sauce. 12. Serve over noodles, mashed potatoes, or toast.
