There are many ways to cook this dish, but simple works best for me. In a large stock pot, combine brisket, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage. Add peppercorn packet if available. Cover with water and simmer on med-low for 3-4 hours. This also works great in a crock-pot! I usually don't add salt since the meat has enough of its own. I top with a little bit of honey-mustard.
