Preheat oven to 375 degrees.Brown ground chuck with chopped onion, drain and mix with cream of mushroom soup and garlic powder. Add thawed broccoli florets to mixture and spread in the bottom of lightly greased (cooking spray) 11x7 inch baking dish. Sprinkle shreddd cheese over top of mixture and top with even laid out tater tots. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until tots are done and casserole is bubbly around the edges.
