This is a very simple dish to prepare and just needs a nice slow cook. I often prepare and cook this for a couple of hours the night before I want it, then leave it to really meld, switch it back on next evening for another hour or so (or you could use a slow cooker). Cover with stock and cider and bake in oven (low Gas mark 5 - 190C or 375F). Leave for a couple of hours, stir and check how much the casserole has reduced.
