2 cups sliced celery
2 cups sliced carrots
1 cup diced sweet peppers
2 tsp. beef base or 2 cubes
1-1/2 cups hot water
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 T. dried basil
1/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 cup water
5-1/2 cups mashed potatoes.( I use left over crock pot mashed potatoes.)

In a large kettle, brown venison and onion. Add celery, carrots, peppers, beef base, hot water and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for about 5 minutes or until carrots and celery are tender. Whisk together flour and water. Stir into kettle. Cook and stir until thickened. Pour mixture into a 9"x13" baking pan. Spread mashed potatoes on top. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until heated through and potatoes lightly browned.
