How Do I Make Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwich?

Here is how you make Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwich:

First, gather all ingredients and dishes to hold the items after you have prepped them. Then gather your cutting board and SHARP knives.I always sharpen my knives on the sharpener on the side of my electric can open. Makes my work much easier, and actually a LOT safer!! Havign my knives bop around int he draw does dull them.Ok. As for dealing with the recipe...Slice your onions thin. If the onion bothers you - try lighting a candle in front of you, and then go back at slicing. DON'T rub your eyes if they start to sting. Go to the sink and wash your hands in COLD water, THEN you can rub them if you need to.So, slice your onions and peppers thin as you want them. Mince up your garlic clove. The smaller the pieces, the less chance you have of biting into a chunk of garlic... you can also omit this.Next, you want to shave your steak super thin. I have learned that if the steak is partcially frozen, it slices a lot easier!! - And usig a very sharp long knife helps too.Preheat oven to 200 degrees F. Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot, add oil and garlic. Let the garlic simmer for a moment alone, and then add onions and peppers. Cook, stirring, until caramelized, about 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, for 30 secondds. Move everything off to the side of the pan and add the meat and break it up by stirring and chopping at it with your spoon. You can also use 2 spatulas and cook and pull meat apart with them... Cook meat for about 2 minutes, until the meat is just barely no longer pink. Mix everything together. Add the cheeses and stir/mix to get it all combined. Spoon into roll, set the sub into the oven for just barely a few minutes, just until the roll is toasty. You can ultimately add cheese whiz to the top, but I think it's over-kill for my family. lolEnjoy. This is a LOT of calories and a LOT of salt and cholesterol... So be careful!! This is not a "eat every night" kind of meal. Keep it as a treat - once a month.Number of Servings: 1Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user SERENDIPITYFR0G.
