What Are The Ingredients For Dixie's Chili Con Carne Recipe?The ingredients for Dixie's Chili Con Carne are: 2 tablespoons olive oil or canola oil2 medium onions, diced 1 or 2 clove(s) garlic, minced or grated 3 pounds beef chuck roast, cut into one to two-inch pieces and trimmed 1 teaspoon salt 4 - 6 tablespoons chili powder (we use 6) 1 tablespoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves 1 teaspoon cayenne (we use about 3, make as hot as you like it) 4 cups really good beef stock (not broth!) How Do I Make Dixie's Chili Con Carne?Here is how you make Dixie's Chili Con Carne: In a large saute pan heat oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook until translucent. Add garlic and cook for another minute or so. To this add the beef and salt. Stir fry until meat is no longer pink on the outside. Add chili powder, cumin, oregano and cayenne. Stir well to combine and allow to cook for 5 minutes. Add broth, stir well, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer (with lid cracked a tad for venting) for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let stand uncovered for about ten minutes.
