We've used this recipe in our family for 30 years and has always been a big hit when served over either cubed boiled potatoes or brown rice. I have altered the original recipe for health reasons by reducing the salt and using no salt added stewed tomatoes so you may want to add a little back in or use regular stewed tomatoes.

1.5 tsp sugar
2 (16 oz cans) red kidney beans undrained
3 (16 oz cans) unsalted stewed tomatoes pureed
2 (6 oz cans) tomato paste

Here is how you make Old Fashioned Spicey Chili:

Combine first 5 ingredients in large dutch oven or frying pan - cook over medium heat stirring to crumble meat until browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess dripping - stir in chili powder, flour and sugar. Add remaining ingredients and stir well (will be thick). Cover and simmer 30 minutes over low heat - stirring occassionally.
