Peel 6 medium potatoes and cut into quarters. Place in saucepan and cover with water. If desired, add 4 peeled whole cloves of garlic. Bring water to a boil and cover. Simmer potatoes for about 15 minutes until tender.2. While potatoes are simmering, slice and wash the mushrooms and place in a small saucepain. Reserve 1/4 cup of the 16 oz can of non-fat beef broth. Pour the remaining broth over mushrooms and bring to a simmer. Gently cook for 10 to 15 minutes until mushrooms are tender.3. Divide 1 lb of ground beef into 6 patties, approximately 1/2-inch thick. Spray broiler pan with non-stick spray. Place patties under broiler, about 6 inches below heating element. Broil for approximately 6 minutes on each side until cooked through and lightly browned.4. Drain water from potatoes and salt and pepper to taste. Pour in 1/4 to 1/2 cup of chicken broth as you mash the potatoes.5. Place one patty in each of six containers and divide mashed potatoes evenly between them, making a slight indentation in potoates.6. Add one tablespoon of cornstarch to reserved beef broth and stil till completely combined. Add slowly to simmering mushroom sauce, stirring continually. continue to simmer until sauce regains its dark color and is clear. Add pepper to taste.7. Pour mushroom gravy over hanburger patty and potatoes.
